Fire and Ice and Floods and Droughts and Famine and…

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say who the fuck cares which it is —
We’re all gonna die!
Stop debating climate change in the
WaPo comments.

This is just to say

While you were posting
about 45’s tweets
that were misspelled
and covfefe

they were
actually cover
for the latest
Muslim ban

Forgive my anger
my family has been detained
by ICE
and are scared.

Parting

My life closed twice before its close;
It yet remains to see
If healthcare will still be available
if I go out of remission,
So huge, so hopeless to conceive,
that Russia stole the election.
But while you’re watching the hearings,
They ended the ACA.

Anecdote of the MAGA Cap

They wore a cap in Tennessee,
And red it was, with white words.
It made your blood boil
To read those words.

The cognitive dissonance rose up in you,
And sprawled around, and made you wild.
“They’re all on disability” you blogged.
“And coal isn’t coming back.”

You pointed out inconsistencies everywhere.
The hat still trumpeted MAGA.
It did not give a fuck what you think.
They’re all watching Fox News.

(Props and apologies to Robert Frost, William Carlos Williams, Emily Dickinson, and Wallace Stevens.)
